A woman gave birth to quadruplets on Wednesday in the Sambalpur district of Odisha. Three of the newborns are girls and the fourth one is a boy.
The joy of Kuni’s family had no bounds after they received the news of her giving birth to four children. It was the first such delivery at the state-run Veer Surendra Sai Institute of Medical Sciences and Research (VIMSAR) in Sambalpur district, Odisha.
The woman was identified as Kuni Suna of Banjipali village in the Sonepur district. She was admitted to the Department of Obstetrics & Gynaecology in VIMSAR on Monday after she started having labour pain.
The health of the mother and the babies is said to be stable. While three of the newborns are girls, one is a boy.
As per the hospital authorities, Kuni gave birth to two baby girls at around 2 pm, another girl at 2.02 pm and the boy at 2.04 pm. After the birth, the newborns were kept in the Special Newborn Care Unit (SNCU) as they were underweight.
Notably, a natural conception of quadruplets is extremely rare. Besides, the delivery in such cases is usually very complicated.
