Andhra’s Tirumala all decked up for Telugu new year celebrations

Preparations to celebrate the Telugu new year, Ugadi is in full swing in Andhra Pradesh’s Tirumala Tirupati temple.

Ugadi, the Telugu new year, is being celebrated at the hill abode of Lord Venkateswara at Tirumala Hills, Tirupati, on Saturday.

The hill shrine of Sri Venkateswara Swamy was decorated colourfully to give a grand welcome to Shri Shubhakrut Nama Year of Ugadi on April 2.

The entrances of the temple were also decorated with coconuts, banana pandals, sugarcanes, raw mangoes and varieties of flowers.

The idols of Sri Bhu Varaha Swamy and Anjaneya Swamy displayed outside the temple captured the attention of the devotees who visited the temple.

Ugadi is celebrated on the first day of the Hindu calendar month of Chaitra by people of Andhra Pradesh, Telangana and Karnataka.
