A 19 month old toddler received a medal on Thursday, on behalf of his firefighter dad who lost his life in the Australia bushfire. Geoffrey Keaton’s son was dressed in a fire fighter outfit with a pacifier in his mouth as New South Wales (NSW) Rural Fire Service Commissioner Shane Fitzsimmons pinned the medal to his chest.

His 32-year old father had been awarded the posthumous Commendation for Bravery and Services after he and his colleague died while fighting the bushfire last month in Australia.

“Today the NSW family farewelled one of their own, with the funeral of Geoffrey Keaton held in Western Sydney earlier today”, A NSW Rural Fire Services Facebook post read.
