3.9 lakh Indians give up citizenship in last three years to settle abroad: Govt data

The government told the Parliament on Tuesday that more than 3.9 lakh Indians have renounced their citizenship in the past three years. Among the 103 countries, America emerged as the top choice where the emigrants settled. According to the date tabled by the Union Ministry of Home Affairs, more than 1.63 lakh Indians relinquished their citizenship in 2021 alone. Of them, more than 78,000 took US citizenship, it added.
