Delhi Congress has requested PM Modi to name the new parliament building after former president APJ Abdul Kalam to send a message of communal harmony.
Delhi Pradesh Congress Committee on Tuesday appealed to Prime Minister Narendra Modi to name the new Parliament building, which is currently under construction, after former President APJ Abdul Kalam to send a ‘message’ about country’s communal harmony.
We would like to request PM Narendra Modi to name the new parliament building after former President Dr APJ Abdul Kalam, which will send a message about country’s communal amity,” DPCC chief Chaudhary Anil Kumar said.
Kumar also accused the Delhi BJP of trying to create social unrest by proposing renaming of 40 historic places.
As the Delhi BJP is failing to cash in on the bulldozer drive, they are now proposing to rename some 40 historic places and roads in Delhi after ‘great personalities’, which even those great figures would have objected to had they been alive,” Kumar said in a statement.
Delhi unit of the BJP had proposed renaming 40 villages of Delhi after personalities including IB officer Ankit Sharma and constable Ratan Lal, who were killed during 2020 Delhi riots.
The BJP has also sought renaming of villages after former President APJ Abdul Kalam and inspector Mohan Chand Sharma, who was martyred during the Batla House encounter.
