Dell is committed to putting technology and expertise to work, where it can do the best for people and the planet. Empowering youth and helping them scale greater heights has always been an important facet of the company’s work culture. The organisation continues to leverage technology to make a positive impact on people and communities around us. As part of the Give Back Project, Dell collaborated with award-winning National Geographic explorer, Mike Libecki to work in the remote village of Tawang in Arunachal Pradesh.
The initiative aims at providing better education, enhance the quality of lives and create hope for future with the possibilities that technology and internet can provide. Mike has completed over 75 major expeditions around the world, and this was Lilliana’s 6th expedition.
This is their fourth and biggest humanitarian project partnering with Dell. In the past they have installed solar panels, generators, and laptops in Peru, Nepal; Tanzania (schools, orphanages and monasteries). The team along with Dell employees have installed 20 new laptop computers, new printers, internet access and are imparting computer education to the kids and the teachers in Tawang. They have also installed new solar power, solar panels and solar generators for the computer center and 14 additional buildings in the community. They trained the teachers and students how to use computers to help advance their education and ultimately create opportunity and a better quality of life now and in the future.
Tawang did not have access to some of the latest technologies that could help them in their day to day lives and enhance the education of their children. Mike Libecki along with Dell team helped setting up solar power, internet, and Dell computers to serve a need and give back to the world that they have explored and shared with so many. Mike worked with the locals and his personal non-profit organization.
Every day, Dell pairs technology with innovation to make a positive social and environmental impact – building a legacy of Good. They are committed to putting our technology and expertise to work, where it can do the best for people and the planet, making possible today what was impossible yesterday.
