The Indian Medical Association  (IMA) has filed a police complaint against Yoga Guru Baba Ramdev and his associates in Delhi for his “defamatory and insensitive” remarks on allopathy treatment, vaccination and medicines administered to treat Covid19 patients, and the doctors.

The complaint, signed by IMA General Secretary Dr Jayesh Lele, said Ramdev and his associates “operated in furtherance of their illegal and dishonest intention with…view of obtaining wrongful gain and consequently causing wrongful loss to medical fraternity”.

The complaint has been filed under Epidemic Diseases Act, 1897, Disaster Management Act, 2005 with all other relevant provisions of law. IMA Raipur, had filed a complaint at Raipur Civil Lines police station against the Patanjali founder.

The derogatory statement by Ramdev, will create fear and distrust in masses against the doctors, medical practitioners, and nurses and allopathy. It also creates mistrust towards the government’s vaccination programme and could derail the system.

Amid the raging controversy, another controversial video of Ramdev Baba surfaced on social media in which the yoga guru is seen reacting to the demand for his arrest, saying “even their father cannot arrest him”. The IMA said that Ramdev falsely claimed that 10,000 doctors died despite taking two doses of vaccination.

Now a question is to who he is saying as their father ? Netizens started trending #ArrestRamdev on social media.

They are just making a noise. They keep creating trends like Thug Ramdev, Mahathug Ramdev, Giraftar Ramdev and so on,” he said responding to #Arrest Ramdev trends on social media.

The Indian Medical Association (IMA) has written to Prime Minister Narendra Modi demanding that Ramdev be booked immediately under sedition charges for alleged misinformation campaign on coronavirus vaccination and challenging government protocols for its treatment.
