Mphasis and Habitat for Humanity build homes for flood-affected families

Mphasis and Habitat for Humanity India, committed to provide affordable housing and improved sanitation, has handed over 25 new homes and 50 sanitation units to the families affected by floods in Tamil Nadu. The handover ceremony was held at Thulasinghapuram, Nandambakkam, Chennai, in the presence of Sathya Gopal, IAS, Principal Secretary & Relief Commissioner, Government of Tamil Nadu; Gokul Santhanam, Senior Vice-President & Head – Business Unit Human Resources, Mphasis; Rajan Samuel, Managing Director, Habitat for Humanity India, and other dignitaries were present at the event.    

 

The 2015 floods in Tamil Nadu caused severe damages to many homes leaving families homeless and deprived of necessities like food and water for more than ten days.

 

Speaking on the occasion, Rajan Samuel, Managing Director, Habitat for Humanity India, said, “At Habitat for Humanity, our effort has always been to offer a helping hand. The 2015 floods severely affected the lives of the people residing in Tamil Nadu. Having a home builds hope, pride and ensures a secure future for families affected by such natural calamities. Together with Mphasis, we have done our bit in rebuilding their lives, thereby impacting the lives of more than 200 individuals.”

 

“Mphasis has always believed in giving back to the society. We do this in every possible way we can. When we started this project, we knew we were going to impact hundreds of lives. But today we are realizing what it really meant for the families. It is highly heartwarming. Our efforts towards empowering those who need it, will continue and Mphasis will be undertaking many more of such initiatives in the coming days,” said Gokul Santhanam, Senior Vice-President & Head – Business Unit Human Resources, Mphasis.
