Nalco and NTPC ink MoU to set up power plant in Odisha

Central PSUs — National Aluminium Company Limited (Nalco) and NTPC Limited signed a MoU in New Delhi on Friday to set up a 2400 MW (8×300 MW) power plant at Gajmara in Dhenkanal district.

The estimated investment in all these projects will be approximately Rs 36,000 crores,” Union power minister Piyush Goyal, who attended the MoU signing ceremony, told reporters.

NTPC has approved a proposal to modernize all power plants older than 25 years within next 5 years, by replacing them with energy efficient supercritical power plants.

Among others, Dhenkanal MP Tathagata Satpathy, state mines Minister Prafulla Kumar Malik, Nalco CMD T K Chand and NTPC CMD Gurdeep Singh were present on the occasion.

Raising concern about the pollution being caused by thermal power plants in the region, NTPC has approved a proposal to modernize all power plants older than 25 years within next 5 years, by replacing them with energy efficient power plants.
