A Historic Visit to Odisha

President Droupadi Murmu has embarked on a significant five-day visit to Odisha, where she will participate in multiple religious, cultural, and developmental events. This visit holds great importance as she returns to her home state, engaging with local communities and inaugurating key infrastructure projects. The Odisha government and district administrations have made elaborate security and logistical arrangements to ensure a smooth itinerary for the President.

Day 1: Arrival and Temple Visit in Nayagarh

President Murmu will arrive at Biju Patnaik International Airport in Bhubaneswar at 1:30 PM and proceed to Kantilo in Nayagarh district via helicopter. She is scheduled to visit the Nilamadhab Temple to offer prayers and later attend a programme organized by the Bharatiya Biswabasu Sabar Samaj at Kaliapali village. Security has been tightened, with five helipads prepared and heavy police deployment in place. The Nayagarh district administration has made comprehensive arrangements for the President’s visit.

Day 2: Navy Day Celebrations and Santali Community Engagement

On December 4, President Murmu will attend the much-anticipated Navy Day celebrations in Puri. She will also unveil a statue of Santali writer and educator Pandit Raghunath Murmu and visit the Adim Owar Jarpa Jaher, a sacred place for the Santali community.

Security measures are stringent, with around 40 platoons of police force, supervised by three DCPs, 15 ADCPs, and five ACPs, ensuring the President’s safety during her engagements.

Day 3: Visit to Jagannath Temple and Ayurveda College Anniversary

On December 5, the President will visit the revered Jagannath Temple in Puri to offer prayers. Following this, she will attend the 75th anniversary celebrations of Gopabandhu Ayurveda Mahavidyalaya in Puri. Her visit underscores the significance of cultural and educational heritage in Odisha.

Day 4: Convocation Ceremony and Judicial Court Inauguration

On December 6, President Murmu will return to Bhubaneswar, where she will attend the 40th convocation ceremony of Odisha University of Agricultural and Technology (OUAT). Later in the day, she will inaugurate the Judicial Court Complex in Bhubaneswar before heading back to Raj Bhavan.

Day 5: Connecting with Her Roots and Developmental Initiatives

On the final day of her visit, President Murmu will travel to Uparbeda village, her birthplace, to interact with the local residents. She will also visit Mahila Mahavidyalaya in Rairangpur to engage with students and teachers. Additionally, she will lay the foundation stones for crucial infrastructure projects, including:

  • Bangiriposi-Gorumahisani, Buramara-Chakulia, and Badampahar-Kendujhargarh railway lines.
  • A tribal research and development center.
  • Dandbose airport.
  • A sub-divisional hospital in Rairangpur.
