Punjab Police has issued a red alert across the state ahead of Dussehra celebrations and the upcoming panchayat elections, scheduled for October 12 and October 15, respectively. The alert, directed by Director General of Police (DGP) Gaurav Yadav, is aimed at ensuring the safety and security of citizens during these significant events.
To strengthen security, Special Director General of Police (Law and Order) Arpit Shukla conducted a surprise visit to Jalandhar, where he reviewed security arrangements. Over 600 high-tech ‘nakas’ (checkpoints) have been set up across the state to monitor potential anti-social activities. Shukla also visited crowded market areas in Jalandhar, interacting with police personnel stationed at these checkpoints to ensure vigilance.
All inter-state and inter-district boundaries have been sealed as a precautionary measure, further tightening security as the state prepares for both the festival and elections.
