All eyes will be on Andre Russell as Kolkata Knight Riders take on Mumbai Indians in the 14th game of IPL 2022 at the MCA Stadium, Pune. Five-time winners MI will be looking for their first win of the tournament as they face last season’s runners-up KKR, who are in good form with two wins out of three.

Mumbai Indians will be looking to get back to winning ways after a poor start to their IPL campaign. Rohit Sharma and Mahela Jayawardene have played down concerns, saying it’s still early days in the tournament but MI need tto get up and running.

Kolkata Knight Riders

Kolkata Knight Riders opened the tournament with a win against defending Chennai Super Kings, who are still on the lookout for their first win of the tournament. They won over CSK by six wickets as they successfully chased down the target of 131 with 9 balls to spare.

KKR lost their second game to Royal Challengers Bangalore at the Dr DY Patil Sports Academy, Mumbai, as they failed to defend the target of 128. Sherfane Rutherford and Shahbaz Ahmed were the chink in the armour for last season’s finalists. However, Shreyas Iyer’s men bounced back with a win over Punjab Kings at the Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai by six wickets, chasing a target of 137 with ease.

Mumbai Indians did not have the start they hoped for, as they lost to Delhi Capitals in their opener and then to Rajasthan Royals in their second game. They failed to protect their lead of 170 against Delhi and then could not chase 193 runs that Rajasthan had scored. The problem for Rohit Sharma’s men has been the inability to contain the opposition’s batters during slog overs.

Andre Russell, KKR

Andre Russell has been the saviour for Kolkata Knight Riders, playing an instrumental role in their win against Punjab Kings as he was 70 off 31 unbeaten, which involved 2 fours and 8 sixes,, helping his team chase down 137 runs with ease. He also took the wicket of PBKS player Arshdeep Singh.

Ishan Kishan, MI

Ishan Kishan scored 81 runs off 48 balls smashing 11 fours and 2 sixes against Delhi Capitals, and then 54 runs off 43 balls against Rajasthan Royals including 5 fours and 1 six. The MI opener has played a key role so far in the tournament for the franchise in the batting department.
