75,000 youth to perform yogasanas on forthcoming international day of Yoga on June 21 says Dr. L. Murugan

International Day of Yoga will be celebrated all over the world on June 21, 2022. As part of the Yoga Day countdown, programmes are being organised in various part of the country.  Dr. L. Murugan, Minister of State for Information and Broadcasting and Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and Dairying addressed a Yoga Day countdown function in Vivekananda Kendra grounds in Kanyakumari today. He said that due to efforts of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, United Nations announced on December 21, 2014  to celebrate International Day of Yoga every year on June 21.  From that year onwards, IDY is celebrated every year for the past eight years, he added. As India is celebrating 75 years of Independence this year, Yoga Day countdown is being organised for 75 days by various ministries and departments. Today yoga day countdown is being organised by  Ministry of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and Dairying, the minister pointed out. Yoga which originated in our country is now followed all over the world. Dr Murugan said that youth can be healthy by performing yogasanas daily. He said that more than 75000 youth all over the country will perform yogasanas on forthcoming international day of yoga on June 21.  Kanyakumari District Collector Shri Aravind, Nagercoil MLA Shri M R Gandhi participated in the function at Kanyakumari.
