Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed the #CoWINGlobalConclave on Monday as India offers CoWIN as a digital platform to combat COVID-19, tweeted the National Health Authority. PM Modi said vaccination is the best hope for humanity to emerge successfully from the pandemic. “And right from the beginning, we in India decided to adopt a completely digital approach while planning our vaccination strategy. He said experience shows that no nation can solve a challenge like this in isolation. However, experts, says, the CoWin app doesnot speaks on the vaccination one has taken, with its batch details, which is possible by just adding a bar code, which is not a difficult job.

Highlights of PM Modi’s address:

Right from the beginning of the pandemic, India has been committed to sharing all our experiences, expertise and resources with the global community

Despite all our constraints, we have tried to share as much as possible with the world

Technology is integral to our fight against COVID-19

Luckily, software is one area in which there are no resource constraints.

That’s why we made our Covid tracing and tracking App open source as soon as it was technically feasible

Vaccination is the best hope for humanity to emerge successfully from the pandemic.

And right from the beginning, we in India decided to adopt a completely digital approach while planning our vaccination strategy

Indian civilization considers the whole world as one family

This pandemic has made many people realize the fundamental truth of this philosophy

That’s why, our technology platform for Covid vaccination – the platform we call CoWin- is being prepared to be made open source

Our technology for CoWIN vaccination will soon be available in all countries.

The software can be customised according to local needs.

RS Sharma, the CEO of National Health Authority, told The Print in an interview, “CoWIN is a public digital good in India, and it will be shared with other countries with the same expectation.” Sharma said it will not be allowed to be used as a platform for commercial use or for repackaging to only be sold to someone else.

The Centre has received interest from 76 countries thus far,” he said. Sharma spoke on to demonstrate the capabilities of the software, the government is set to hold a virtual global conclave for health and technology experts from across the globe, on 5 July.

There were 196 officials from foreign countries and 116 private individuals from 41 countries have registered for participation in the Global Conclave on CoWin,” Sharma said. “In due course of time, we will also have information on the countries that formally showcase their interest in adopting the platform for vaccination in their respective countries.
