Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia said buses and Metro services will run at 100% capacity now and warned Delhi residents against stepping out of their homes during the curfew on Saturday and Sunday.

Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia on Tuesday, January 4, said that the impact of the Omicron variant of coronavirus was less severe but asked people to be on guard. He also said that bus and Metro services will be run at 100% capacity from now, but people will have to strictly adhere to the mask rule and other Covid-safety norms.

He warned Delhi residents against stepping out of their homes during the curfew on Saturday and Sunday. “Do not step out of home unless it is a medical emergency,” he said.

In the wake of rising Covid cases, a weekend curfew will be imposed in Delhi from this week. The decision was taken at a meeting convened by the Delhi Disaster Management Authority today. “Delhi government employees, barring those engaged in essential services, will work from home while private offices will have to function at 50% capacity,” Sisodia said.

He also said that bus stops and Metro stations were threatening to become Covid places of superspreaders as they were running at 50% capacity resulting in crowding. “Buses and Metros will now run at 100% capacity to prevent crowding at the bus stops and Metro stations. But no one will be allowed without a mask.
