Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan on Friday disagreed with CPI(M) politburo member and senior leader S Ramachandran Pillai for praising China. CM Vijayan said that the socialist nation of China could not take the right stand against the imperialist powers.
The Kerala Chief Minister said this after inaugurating the CPI(M) Thiruvananthapuram district conference.
On Thursday, S Ramachandran Pillai made a statement in favour of China at the CPI(M)’s Kottayam district convention. He claimed that the anti-China propaganda in India was aimed at the Communist Party and China was being surrounded and attacked by countries, including India. China contributes to 70 per cent of the world’s poverty alleviation but India is growing poverty, Pillai claimed. Pillai blamed the central government for this.
During the Pandemic period, the capitalist countries sought to gain profits by selling the vaccine. But countries like China and Cuba have given free vaccines and helped other countries, Pillai claimed.
Ramachandran Pillai’s remarks were widely criticized as praising China and as anti-national. Following the controversy, Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan has clarified the stand of the CPI(M).
