Defamation case ruled in favour of ex-Kerala CM Oommen Chandy, VS Achuthanandan to pay him Rs 10.10 lakh

The incident pertaining to the case happened in 2013 when the Solar scam broke out. Former Kerala CM, VS Achuthanandan, said in a TV interview that one of the companies involved in the scam was formed under former CM Chandy’s leadership.

Adefamation case filed by Kerala’s former Chief Minister Oommen Chandy against former CM VS Achuthanandan has been ruled in Chandy’s favour. Achuthanandan has been ordered to pay Rs 10.10 lakhs as compensation to Chandy.

The incident pertaining to the case happened in 2013 when news of the Solar scam broke out. The then opposition leader, VS Achuthanandan, alleged that one of the companies involved in the solar scam was formed under the leadership of Chandy. The allegation was made during a TV channel interview.

The solar scam that shook the state in 2013 pertains to alleged cheating by Saritha Nair and Biju Radhakrishnan, who offered their clients solar energy solutions. They allegedly had help from people in the then CM’s office. The scam was what brought the then United Democratic Front (UDF) government to tatters.
