In a series of tweets on Thursday, the Samajwadi Party levelled several allegations of irregularities in the polling process in Uttar Pradesh.
The Samajwadi Party, in a series of tweets, levelled allegations of a number of irregularities as polling began in 11 districts of Uttar Pradesh on Thursday February 10.
The allegations started with the party claiming that officials at Anupshahr-67 booth in Bulandshahr district were abusing women voters. It called on the Election Commission of India to “take action and ensure smooth and fair polling”.
It then urged the Election Commission to take immediate cognizance and ensure smooth voting at booth number 82 of Kithor-46 assembly seat in Meerut, where, the SP alleged, a long queue had formed as officials were not starting the polling.
The party, in another tweet, pointed out that a polling room at booth number 227, MS Inter College, in Bulandshahr’s assembly seat Secunderabad-64, was dark and voters were facing trouble
The Samajwadi Party in subsequent tweets claimed that poor voters were being intimidated and removed from the polling booth queues to prevent them from casting their votes. It said voters at booth numbers 347, 348, 349, and 350 of Dundukheda village in Kairana-8 assembly seat in Shamli district were being sent home.
SP also claimed that polling agents were being prevented by police from entering some polling booths in Agra and sought the ECI and district magistrate’s help.
It further alleged that people in Hapur were not being allowed by officials to cast their votes despite featuring on the voters’ list.
Apart from the allegations, the party also pointed out that people were facing troubles due to technical issues related to the electronic voting machines.
