Addressing a public meeting in poll-bound Punjab, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi censured AAP chief Arvind Kejriwal for staying overnight at an ex-militant’s house back in 2017.

In a scathing attack on the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) in poll-bound Punjab, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi alleged the rival party’s chief Arvind Kejriwal had stayed overnight at an ex-militant’s house back in 2017.

Addressing a public meeting in Barnala, Rahul Gandhi asserted that a Congress leader will never stay at a former terrorist’s house.

“I want you to remember that no matter what happens, you will not find a Congress leader at a terrorist’s house, but the biggest leader of ‘jhaadu’ can be found at the terrorist’s house,” he said, in a dig at the AAP’s poll symbol of broom (jhaadu).

Gurwinder is the former chief of KLF. He is accused of inciting Sikh-Hindu riots during the years when insurgency was at its peak in Punjab. He was jailed in cases relating to murder and other heinous crimes. However, he was later acquitted and went to England.

Campaigning in Punjab’s Patiala district on Tuesday, the Gandhi scion mocked the AAP and the BJP for making false promises.

I will not make false promises. If you [public] want to hear false promises being made, listen to Modiji, Badalji, and Kejriwalji. I have been taught to say only the truth,” Rahul Gandhi said.

He also alleged that there are “hidden powers” that are at work behind Arvind Kejriwal and PM Modi and asked the voters in Punjab to judge the leaders by their actions.

Taking on the AAP, the Congress leader claimed those seeking one chance to form the government will “destroy Punjab” and the state “will burn”.

“Those who are making promises to you, saying ‘ek baar mauka do’, they will destroy Punjab. Punjab will burn, remember my words,” he said.
