Andhra Pradesh CM Jagan Mohan Reddy met PM Modi in Delhi and requested Centre to relax the credit limit, as the state had suffered huge revenue losses due to bifurcation and Covid.
Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy on Tuesday requested Prime Minister Narendra Modi to amend the credit limit for Andhra Pradesh as the state suffered huge revenue loss due to bifurcation and Covid pandemic.
The chief minister met PM Modi in Delhi today. Along with the request to relax the credit limit, Reddy requested the Centre to approve the revised estimates of Polavaram project which is pegged at over Rs 55,000 crore.
According to Jagan Mohan Reddy, the state suffered a revenue loss of Rs 33,478 crore due to Covid and an additional Rs 7,130 crore had to be spent on infection prevention and treatment.
He further said the procedure followed for identification of beneficiaries under the National Food Security Act is flawed and unjust to the state. Reddy also alleged that Telangana power companies owned Andhra Pradesh Generation Corporation Limited (APGENCO) an amount of over Rs 6000 crore.
Reddy sought the Centre’s intervention to ensure that the dues are paid by the neighbouring state as the AP power distribution companies are reeling under a severe financial crunch.
Apart from Polavaram project, the chief minister also raised issues surrounding Kadapa Steel Plant and requested for site clearance approval for Bhogapuram International Airport near Visakhapatnam as it has expired.
