Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde said they are ‘Shiv Sena’ and time will tell whether they would go to the Election Commission of India (ECI) for the Sena symbol.
Days after clearing the floor test in Maharashtra, Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde said that time would tell whether his camp would approach the Election Commission of India (ECI) for the Sena symbol. Eknath Shinde said they were trying to convince former Maharashtra CM Uddhav Thackeray but their pleas fell on deaf ears.
Eknath Shinde and his deputy chief minister Devendra Fadnavis met President Ram Nath Kovind, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh and BJP President JP Nadda in New Delhi today.
Their visit to the national capital comes ahead of a crucial hearing in the Supreme Court on July 11 on a petition filed by the Uddhav Thackeray-led Shiv Sena seeking disqualification of Shinde and 15 MLAs of his faction.
Addressing his first press conference after becoming the Maharashtra Chief Minister, Shinde backed the BJP and said, “People used to say the BJP broke governments because it is hungry for power. No one can say the same about the BJP now. We tried to talk to Uddhav Thackeray that Shiv Sena MLAs were losing their value.”
Balasaheb Thackeray used to say that he would never be in alliance with NCP and Congress. He used to say he would shun Shiv Sena if he had to join hands with Congress, NCP,” Eknath Shinde said.
Eknath Shinde also said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has a vision for Maharashtra and he would seek his blessings. He said that people want the alliance of Shiv Sena and the BJP.
“I have established this government because this is the will of the people. This government will get help from central government,” he said.
The chief minister also met Solicitor General of India, Tushar Mehta, regarding the OBC status in Maharashtra.
