UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath sought an immediate apology from Congress for Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury’s remarks on President Droupadi Murmu.
UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has termed Congress leader Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury’s remarks on President Droupadi Murmu as ‘indecent’ and has described it as an insult to the entire tribal society and women. CM Yogi has also sought immediate apology from Congress for the reprehensible act.
The chief minister has said that the remarks of the Congress MP towards the President are highly condemnable as making such remarks on the country’s highest constitutional post is an insult to the country at large.
“It is also an insult to the Constitution of India and matrishakti (women power). This country can never accept any such comment”, said Chief Minister Yogi, adding that the Congress cannot shirk its responsibility for this reprehensible act and must apologise to the countrymen.
Chowdhury had earlier referred to President Droupadi Murmu as ‘Rashtrapatni’ in a video clip which sparked the controversy.
He later responded to his remark on President Murmu and said, “I uttered it only once. It was a slip of tongue. The entire issue is being blown out of proportion by the BJP and an unnecessary controversy is being raked up.”
