Senior Samajwadi Party MLA Azam Khan was discharged from a private hospital after recovering from pneumonia. Although Khan’s condition was stable, he was kept under the observation of a critical care team after doctors diagnosed him with pneumonia. On Friday, the 74-year-old leader was allowed to leave the hospital after his condition improved.

Alok Khanna, a hospital official, told India Today that the SP leader’s condition improved and all the reports came back normal.

The Rampur MLA, who had spent 27 months in Sitapur jail in an alleged forgery case, had battled with illness during his time in prison. Azam Khan has since been granted regular bail by a local court in Uttar Pradesh in the case.
