In aftermath of Cyrus Mistry’s death, Nitin Gadkari makes car seat belts mandatory

Following the death of Cyrus Mistry in a car accident last Sunday, Union Minister of Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari stated that seat belts will be mandatory for all passengers sitting in a vehicle.

“It will now be mandatory for all the people sitting in the car to wear a seat belt,” the Union Minister said. “After the death of Cyrus Mistry, today the government has taken a big decision for the safety of the backseat passengers. A seat belt is required for the back seat,” Nitin Gadkari said.The minister was addressing a media event, where he said, “Because of the death of Cyrus Mistry in a car accident, we have taken a decision that there will be a seatbelt beep system for the rear seats also in vehicles.” He underlined that defaulters and violators of this rule would be punished with a fine.
