Rain batters it Delhi-NCR, Gurugram, IMD predicts heavy rain over Uttarakhand, UP, Rajasthan

Normal life was thrown out of gear as heavy rains lashed Delhi, Noida and Gurugram on Thursday, leading to severe waterlogging in several areas. Meanwhile, the weather department has forecast more rainfall for several parts of the country. Check the detailed weather forecast here.

NCR Noida and Gurugram on Thursday, severe waterlogging was reported in several areas, leading to traffic snarls on key roads across the cities. Normal life was thrown out of gear as commuters waded through knee-deep water due to inundated streets. Meanwhile, schools have been ordered to remain shut in Noida and Gurugram in view of the heavy rainfall.

DELHI RAIN FORECAST

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast more rain for the national capital and adjoining areas on Friday. The weather department has issued a yellow alert, cautioning people about moderate rain at most places in the city.

IMD wrote, “A fresh cloud is approaching towards Delhi leading to the possibility of light to moderate rainfall in most places with intense spells occasionally at a few places over Delhi and adjoining areas of NCR during the next 3-4 hours” (sic)

The weather office has predicted a generally cloudy sky, moderate rain and thundershowers at most places. The maximum and minimum temperatures are expected to settle at 28 degrees Celsius and 23 degrees Celsius, respectively, the MeT said.

WEATHER FORECAST FOR UTTARAKHAND, UP, RAJASTHAN

IMD in its latest weather bulletin, said that heavy rainfall activity is likely over the northwest part of India and will reduce thereafter. “Haryana and Chandigarh on September 22, East Uttar Pradesh during September 22, 23, 25 and 26 and over East Rajasthan on 22nd-24th September. Isolated very heavy rainfall is also likely over East Rajasthan and West Uttar Pradesh on September 22,” IMD tweeted.

According to the weather department, parts of Uttar Pradesh and Rajasthan are also expected to receive heavy showers during the next few days. Similarly, heavy rainfall is likely over parts of Madhya Pradesh on Friday.
