BSF troops shot down a Pakistani drone after they noticed it sneaking into Indian territory in Punjab’s Amritsar. One hexacopter in a partial damaged condition along with a suspected item was also recovered from the spot.

Continuing its crackdown on terror activities, the Border Security Force (BSF) has shot down another drone that entered from Pakistan in Punjab’s Amritsar district, just two days after a similar incident was reported in the region. The troops fired at the drone after they noticed it sneaking into the Indian territory near Chaharpur village, the officials said, foiling another smuggling attempt.

The BSF troops deployed at the border heard a buzzing sound of a suspected drone entering from Pakistan into Indian territory in the area falling near Chaharpur in Amritsar. The troops tried to intercept the suspected drone by firing, following which the bullet hit the drone and it fell on the ground. The area was cordoned off and police and other concerned agencies were immediately alerted.

Further, during initial search, the BSF recovered one Hexacopter in a partial damaged condition along with a suspected item in white-colour polythene attached underneath, lying in farming field on own side of the border fencing near Chaharpur village.

Notably, there has been an increase in sneaking of Pakistani drones into Indian territory as compared to 2021. Around 230 drones have been spotted this year along the border whereas the figure stood at 104 in 2021. As far as 2020 is concerned, 77 drones were seen on the Indo-Pak border and LoC.

At least 297 drones were spotted in Punjab from 2020 and October this year suspicious drone activities were also observed in Gujarat, Jammu, Punjab and Rajasthan. Pakistan’s Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) sends weapons and drugs through these drones.
