Ahead of the Punjab leg of Congress’s Bharat Jodo Yatra, Rahul Gandhi paid obeisance at the Golden Temple in Amritsar on Tuesday afternoon.
The Congress tweeted photos of Rahul Gandhi’s visit to the Golden Temple. The party said, “Before the start of Bharat Jodo Yatra in Punjab, today Rahul Gandhi offered obeisance at the world famous Golden Temple symbol of religious unity in Amritsar and prayed for the happiness, peace and prosperity of the country.”
Rahul Gandhi will spend a few hours in Amritsar before returning to Sirhind in Fatehgarh Sahib in Punjab this evening, Congress leader Jairam Ramesh told reporters in Ambala.
Meanwhile, Shiromani Akali Dal leader Harsimrat Kaur Badal slammed Rahul Gandhi’s Golden Temple visit.
“It is a matter of shame to see the eagerness and joy of the Punjab Congress in welcoming Rahul Gandhi, the successor of the Gandhi family, who has betrayed Punjab and Sikhs and tried to destroy even the religious places of Sikhs,” the SAD leader alleged
Till date this (Gandhi) family has not apologised, and you are welcoming them,” Harsimrat Kaur Badal said hitting out at the Congress leader’s visit to Amritsar.
