Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Uma Bharti on Thursday called upon people to drink cow milk and shun alcohol as she tied stray cows in front of a liquor shop in Madhya Pradesh’s Orchha.
Standing in front of the shop selling Indian-made foreign liquor (IMFL) in Orchha, Niwari district, Bharti raised the slogan, “Sharab Nahi, Doodh Piyo (drink milk, not liquor)”, as reported by PTI.
In June last year, the BJP leader had thrown cow dung at the same liquor shop.
The former chief minister is spearheading a campaign against liquor consumption in the BJP-ruled state. She has been demanding appropriate amendments to liquor policy, which the state government releases every year, and incorporating more controls to promote de-addiction.
Last month, Uma Bharti reached a temple in Bhopal and announced that she would stay there till January 31 awaiting the liquor policy announcement. Notably, a liquor shop is situated in front of the temple.
