The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) workers are carrying out nationwide protests today against Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia‘s arrest in the Delhi liquor scam case. Party workers are staging protests in Bhopal, Chandigarh, Delhi and other cities amid tight security. A clash broke out between AAP workers and police near the party headquarters in the national capital. Sisodia was arrested after nearly eight hours of questioning on various aspects of the excise policy for 2021-22 in connection with alleged corruption in the now-scrapped policy relating to the sale of alcohol. Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal claimed Manish Sisodia was arrested due to political pressure. The court hearing will start after 2 pm and the AAP leader is likely to move his bail plea today. The national capital has been put on alert in view of the protests and elaborate security arrangements have been made by the Delhi Police to maintain law and order situation.
