NTPC Empowers Myanmar’s Power Sector Professionals with Cutting-Edge Training on Microgrids and Electric Vehicles

Under the India-Myanmar Government to Government framework for cooperation in Power Sector, NTPC is conducting 5 training programmes for the power sector professionals of Myanmar under the auspices of Indian Technical and Economic Cooperation (ITEC) program, Development Partnership Administration, Ministry of External Affairs, India. Two (02) of the training programmes, on SMARTGRIDS and CROSS BORDER TRAINING PROGRAMS were conducted in March-April 2023 and the remaining programs are scheduled to be conducted in June 2023.

A Team of around 40 participants drawn from Power Sector & Associated Departments of Myanmar is travelling to India for the second leg of the capacity building program. The Inaugural Function of the said training programmes on “Microgrids” and “Electric Vehicles, Batteries & Charging Stations” was held on 05.06.2023 at NTPC’s Power Management Institute, Noida. These programmes will conclude on 09.06.2023.

These Programmes are being conducted as part of the Indian Technical & Economic Cooperation Programme (ITEC) – the leading capacity building platform of the Ministry of External Affairs, Government of India.

Ms Nabanita Chakrabarti, Deputy Chief of Mission, Indian Embassy, Yangon Myanmar, Dr J S Chandok, Head  International Business Development NTPC Ltd,  Dr Rajeshwari Narendran, Director, NTPC School of Business and Smt. Rachnana Singh Bhal, General Manager, Power Management Institute, NTPC addressed the forty (40) participants, including 23 female participants.

The Programme on “Microgrids” aims to provide the participants with an understanding of microgrids, their types, components, business models, applications and benefits.

The Programme on “Electric Vehicles, Batteries & Charging Stations” aims to provide the participants with a practical understanding of Electric Vehicles, Batteries & Charging Infrastructure. It also aims to impart an understanding of Vehicle Dynamics, Fleet Electrification, challenges and the way forward for Electric Vehicles, Batteries & Charging Stations
