With the haze season underway in Delhi, 1mg has undertaken a step to ensure the safety of Traffic cops and Army men on duty by distributing anti- pollution masks for free in the crowded areas of the city. There has been a rapid fall in the air quality of Delhi. It has massively breached the permissible standards of air pollution and shrouded the city into a thick blanket of smog.
Traffic Police and Army men are the highly vulnerable groups in such situation. It is a pronounced problem for them as they have to deal with foul air during their duty. They spend long hours of breathing in poisonous air. Hence, they are the people who are exposed to deadly respiratory and other related ailments.
“We are in a health emergency & air pollution in Delhi NCR is at a crisis level – we face short term as well as long term health issues breathing this air. It is imperative we all do our bit – reduce pollutants and also make sure we keep ourselves protected in this hazardous environment till things improve. All of us are vulnerable – especially children, elderly and those who spend a lot of time outdoors”, says Prashant Tandon, Founder & CEO, 1mg.
In order to minimize the impact of toxic air, 1mg along with several colleges of Delhi who volunteered for this initiative, distributed anti- pollution masks at traffic signals in the areas: Uttam Nagar, Kirby Place (Delhi Cantt), Dhaulakuan, AIIMS, Chhattarpur, Sikanderpur, IFFCO Chowk and HUDA City Centre Metro Station.
Shri Ramesh Yadav, ACP Traffic Police said, “Masks are very important at this moment when Delhi’s air quality index has deteriorated so much. Delhi Traffic Police is committed to serve public day and night in every situation. 1mg.com has done a great job by distributing masks across Delhi in this need of the hour.”
Multiple groups of college students wearing Anti pollution masks were spread all over the traffic signals to carry out this initiative. The colleges volunteered for this activity are North Campus – Delhi University, Hans Raj College, Miranda House, Delhi Technological University, Jesus & Mary College, Deshbandhu College, MDI – Gurugram and IITM – Janakpuri.
1mg along with their volunteers extensively focused on the on-ground approach to protect our traffic cops and army jawans from being affected by deteriorating air quality. This initiative by 1mg aims to spread awareness about the use of Anti- Pollution masks as an important safety measure to this situation. It encourages people to use these masks while going out and makes sure that their delivery boys and Phlebotomists are using N95 masks while delivering medicines or picking up blood samples.
