Lok Sabha Elections 2024 Phase 7 LIVE Updates: With the world’s largest polling marathon drawing to a close on Saturday, all eyes will be on results to be declared on June 4.

Lok Sabha Elections, held in seven phases, from April 19 saw people exercising their democratic rights even as temperatures rose in peak summer. Now as we inch close the final phase of the 18th Lok Sabha Election, over 10.06 crore electors will be exercising their franchise across nearly 1.09 lakh polling stations. Around 10.9 lakh polling officials on duty will ensure smooth conduct of Lok Sabha Chunav seventh phase. Of the 10.06 crore electors which are all set to vote in the General Election Elections 2024, about 5.24 crore are male, 4.82 crore are female and 3,574 electors belong to the third gender.

Voting started in the last 57 parliamentary constituencies at 7 am across seven states and the Union Territory of Chandigarh.The prominent contenders include Prime Minister Modi, Ajay Rai, the chief of UP Congress, Anurag Thakur, the Information and Broadcasting minister, Bollywood actress Kangana Ranaut, and Abhishek Banerjee, who is the nephew of West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee.

Congress leader and Leader of Opposition in Punjab, Partap Singh Bajwa, arrived with his family at the designated polling booth at Sikh National College in Gurdaspur to cast their votes in the seventh and final phase of the Lok Sabha Elections 2024.

On responding to the questions of election trends, Bajwa stated, “70 per cent of the Punjab’s population resides in rural areas. I have been to various places and observed that the overall trend is Anti-BJP and Anti-Modi. People no longer want to support the BJP and Narendra Modi.”
He further added, “Since there are three options against the BJP, i.e., Congress, Aam Aadmi Party and Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD). People don’t want to go with SAD, as they are close allies of the BJP and will likely support them upon winning. The only competition left is between Congress and AAP, and the only suitable alternative to Modi is the Congress.”

Former Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh and veteran Congress leader Digvijaya Singh on Saturday raised a question over Prime Minister Narendra Modi’ Meditation Hall photos asking “Is PM Modi not governed by law and rules.” Singh further asked the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) to respond on the issue. On Saturday morning, the Congress leader posted on X (formerly twitter) quoting a post of an X user named Kapil (@kapsology), “Thank you for pointing it out. Is Narendra Modi not governed by law and rules or rules don’t apply to him. Would the PMO please respond?”

X user Kapil wrote on Friday, “This is the first time you see the Meditation Hall photos inside the Vivekananda Memorial as photography here is not allowed and punishable by Law. But what is ‘Camera-jeevi’ without a camera?”

Amid the seventh and the last phase of the Lok Sabha election which began at 7 am on Saturday, Electronic Voting Machine (EVM) were looted by local mob and two VVPAT machines have been thrown inside a pond in South 24 Parganas, West Bengal, officials said. According to the Chief Electoral Office, West Bengal, an FIR has been lodged by the Sector Officer and necessary action has been initiated.
