Government Accelerates Establishment of NIFTEM in Every State: Union Minister Chirag Paswan

The government is pushing forward with the plan to establish the National Institute of Food Technology Entrepreneurship and Management (NIFTEM) in every state, as highlighted by Union Food Processing Industries Minister Chirag Paswan. Addressing the media in New Delhi on World Food India-2024, scheduled for September in the capital, Mr. Paswan emphasized the immense potential of the food processing sector in boosting farmers’ income and contributing to the vision of a developed India.

He pointed out that the food processing industry is a significant employment generator and stressed the need for more food processing infrastructure to enable local processing of foods and products. Reducing wastage of vegetables, fruits, and other products, ensuring hygiene, quality checks, and meeting global standards are among his top priorities for the next five years.

Minister of State for Food Processing Industries, Ravneet Singh Bittu, also spoke at the event, noting the global popularity of Indian foods and the notable increase in the country’s processed food exports over the past decade.

World Food India-2024 aims to unite the global food processing industry, showcase India’s rich food culture, and attract investments in the country’s diverse food processing sector.
