The Ministry of Women and Child Development (MWCD) held the “National Workshop on SANKALP: Hub for Empowerment of Women – Launch of the 100-Days Special Awareness Campaign” at Vigyan Bhavan, New Delhi. This event was presided over by Union Minister of State for Women & Child Development, Smt. Savitri Thakur, with Secretary Shri Anil Malik also in attendance. The workshop initiated a nationwide 100-days awareness campaign focused on women-centric issues, running from June 21 to October 4, 2024. The campaign aims to increase awareness and outreach on women empowerment through enrolment drives and educational sessions across the country.

In her speech, Minister Smt. Savitri Thakur emphasized the importance of empowering women through the effective implementation of various schemes such as:

  • Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana
  • PM Awas Yojana
  • Swachh Bharat Mission
  • Poshan Abhiyaan
  • Deen Dayal Antyodaya Yojana – National Rural Livelihoods Mission (DAY-NRLM)

Secretary Shri Anil Malik introduced the campaign, stressing its crucial role in promoting women-led development in line with the national vision. The one-day workshop included sessions on legal provisions, communication strategies, and counselling techniques for grassroots functionaries of SANKALP: HEWs, which are active in 693 districts across India. These initiatives aim to ensure the last-mile delivery of services and increase women’s participation in developmental schemes.

Through this 100-day program, the Ministry reaffirms its commitment to fostering women’s empowerment across sectors like education, health, livelihood, and social security
