Rajnath Singh Condoles Death of 5 Army Personnel in Kathua Terror Attack: ‘Deeply Anguished’

Kathua, Jammu and Kashmir — Defence Minister Rajnath Singh expressed profound grief on Tuesday over the death of five Indian Army personnel in a terrorist attack in Jammu and Kashmir’s Kathua district. Singh conveyed his sorrow on the social media platform X, stating, “I am deeply anguished at the loss of five of our brave Indian Army soldiers in a terrorist attack in Badnota, Kathua (J&K).”

The attack occurred on Monday when a heavily armed group of terrorists ambushed a patrolling party in the Badnota area of Kathua, resulting in multiple injuries in addition to the fatalities.

Singh extended his heartfelt condolences to the families of the deceased soldiers, affirming the nation’s solidarity with them during this challenging time. “My deepest condolences to the bereaved families, the nation stands firm with them in this difficult time,” he said.

He also highlighted the ongoing counter-terror operations, emphasizing the Army’s resolve to restore peace and order in the region. “The counter-terrorist operations are underway, and our soldiers are determined to usher in peace and order in the region,” Singh noted.

The Defence Minister also wished a swift recovery for those injured in the attack, adding, “I pray for a speedy recovery to those who sustained injuries in this dastardly terror attack.”

The incident underscores the persistent threat of terrorism in the region and the continued sacrifices made by the Indian Army to safeguard national security and stability.
