Andhra Pradesh – In response to the severe flooding caused by heavy rainfall in the coastal districts of Andhra Pradesh, the Indian Navy, under the Eastern Naval Command, has ramped up its relief efforts to assist the State Administration and the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF). The Navy’s operations are focused on evacuating stranded individuals and providing essential supplies to those affected by the floods.
Naval helicopters have been instrumental in the ongoing relief missions, with 1,820 kg of food packets and 22 kg of medicines airdropped to isolated and flood-affected regions. These efforts have been crucial in delivering aid to those in immediate need, especially in areas inaccessible by land.
To further bolster relief operations, Flood Relief Teams (FRTs) have been deployed to Ajit Singh Nagar in the NTR District. The teams are distributing food and relief materials while facilitating the evacuation of people using Gemini boats. These efforts are helping to reach individuals stranded in waterlogged areas, providing essential services and transportation.
Additionally, technical teams from the Navy are stationed at Vijayawada Airport to ensure smooth aircraft operations as the flood relief efforts continue. The coordinated response between the Indian Navy, state authorities, and the NDRF highlights a unified approach to tackling the natural disaster, ensuring rapid and efficient assistance to the affected population.
