A Guide to Enrolling in Ayushman Bharat

The Ayushman Bharat Senior Citizen Scheme allows individuals aged 70 years or older to apply through the website www.beneficiary.nha.gov.in or the Ayushman App, available on the Google Play Store. To register, beneficiaries must verify their identity and eligibility using Aadhaar e-KYC, which serves as the primary document to confirm age and residence.

Family members can also register eligible beneficiaries via the mobile app or website by entering their mobile number and the OTP generated for the enrollment process. Additionally, beneficiaries can visit the nearest empanelled hospital for registration.

The scheme is completely cashless, with payments made directly to hospitals for treatments provided to eligible beneficiaries. Empanelled hospitals must offer cashless treatment, and grievances can be lodged through the AB PM-JAY website or the national call center at 14555. Complaints regarding denied treatment are treated as urgent, with a resolution turnaround time of six hours.

Beneficiaries who need to re-initiate their Aadhaar-based e-KYC can do so through the website or app. A list of empanelled hospitals is available on www.dashboard.pmjay.gov.in, with approximately 30,000 hospitals, including major corporate facilities, participating in the scheme.

Public health and hospitals fall under state jurisdiction, so state health agencies are responsible for empaneling hospitals under the Ayushman Bharat PM-JAY. Beneficiaries can receive treatment at any empanelled hospital by presenting their Ayushman card or PMJAY ID, ensuring the hospital is equipped to handle their specific medical needs.

The scheme typically covers treatments costing below ₹2 lakh, and beneficiaries are entitled to ₹5 lakh in healthcare coverage. For treatments not included under PM-JAY, the Rashtriya Arogya Nidhi (RAN) scheme provides financial assistance up to ₹15 lakh for eligible patients from economically disadvantaged families. However, in states that do not implement the scheme, elderly citizens cannot access AB PM-JAY benefits.
