PM Modi’s Strong Rebuttal in Parliament

Prime Minister Narendra Modi delivered a powerful speech in the Rajya Sabha, responding to the debate on the Motion of Thanks to the President’s Address. His speech, marked by sharp criticism of the Congress party, highlighted key themes such as caste politics, dynastic rule, and his government’s commitment to inclusive development. He accused Congress of obstructing reforms, neglecting key figures like BR Ambedkar, and prioritizing family politics over national progress. With a confident assertion of the NDA government’s achievements and a vision for ‘Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas,’ Modi’s remarks set the tone for a highly charged political discourse.

Congress’ Treatment of BR Ambedkar

PM Modi launched a blistering attack on Congress for its historical treatment of Dr. BR Ambedkar. He claimed that Congress harboured deep resentment against Ambedkar and actively worked to ensure his electoral defeat. Furthermore, he criticized Congress for failing to honor Ambedkar with the Bharat Ratna, stating, “Today, when they are forced to say ‘Jai Bhim,’ their faces dry up.” This, he argued, was a reflection of the party’s reluctance to acknowledge Ambedkar’s contributions.

On NDA’s Third Consecutive Term

The Prime Minister attributed the NDA’s successive electoral victories to public trust in his government’s model of governance. He asserted, “After 2014, we were given the chance to serve the country, and the nation has once again given us the opportunity for a third consecutive term.” He dismissed opposition claims about democracy being under threat, emphasizing that India remains a vibrant democracy with a free press and open political discourse.

Caste Politics and the OBC Commission

PM Modi took Congress to task for its inconsistent stance on caste politics, particularly regarding the establishment of an OBC Commission. He noted that for over three decades, MPs across party lines had advocated for a constitutional commission for OBCs, but Congress repeatedly rejected the proposal. “We gave constitutional status to this OBC Commission,” he declared, positioning his government as the champion of backward classes’ rights.

Dynastic Politics and Nepotism

Targeting Congress’ leadership, Modi described the party’s model as “a mixture of lies, cheating, appeasement, and nepotism.” He accused Congress of putting “family first” over national interest, shaping policies and political strategies that solely benefited dynastic rulers.

Opposition’s Use of Naxal Rhetoric

PM Modi also lashed out at opposition leaders for allegedly using language akin to that of “urban Naxals.” He remarked, “To resist the Indian state is the language of Naxals. Those who speak this language can neither understand the Constitution nor national unity.” His remarks underscored his government’s stance against extremist ideologies.

Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas: A Vision for Development

Reaffirming his commitment to inclusive governance, PM Modi emphasized that ‘Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas’ is the guiding principle of his administration. He stated that every government scheme is designed to reach 100% of beneficiaries without discrimination. He highlighted the government’s “saturation approach” to ensure that every resource is effectively utilized for the nation’s progress and the welfare of every citizen. He also pointed to strengthened laws for Dalits and tribals, showcasing his administration’s commitment to social justice.

A Battle of Ideologies

PM Modi’s speech in the Rajya Sabha was a direct and scathing critique of Congress, positioning his government as a force for transparency, accountability, and development. His remarks underscored the NDA’s electoral success, its focus on inclusive governance, and its commitment to breaking the cycle of caste-based and dynastic politics. As India moves toward another election cycle, the ideological battle between the ruling party and the opposition is set to intensify, with Modi firmly presenting himself as the leader of a New India committed to progress for all.
