A tail submission of pleas and new applications by the guilty and because of their pendency at the court, their death warrant has already been stopped twice by the Patiala House Court.
The Patiala House Court had issued a death warrant to hang the guilty on February 1, but Vinay’s pending mercy petition at the President’s office led to a stoppage of the execution.
The Delhi High Court is said to pronounce its verdict on the central government’s plea regarding the hanging in Nirbhaya case on Wednesday.
Justice Suresh Kaith, who has been hearing the case, will decide the future of the convicts. The verdict will also clarify if all guilty can be hung together or those whose mercy petitions have been rejected can be executed earlier.
Earlier, the central government had submitted their application in the Delhi High Court with reasons of four guilty in the case misusing the judicial system and delaying their hanging. The Delhi High Court had reserved their order after completion of the special hearing on Sunday.
