Aam Aadmi Party on Monday held a meeting with its candidates for the MCD poll. All 250 candidates were directed to personally monitor preparations and reach out to the public.

(AAP) on Monday held a late night high-level meeting with its 250 Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) election candidates and instructed them to hold padyatras and door-to-door campaigns to reach out to voters ahead of the polls.

Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia, AAP Delhi State Convenor Gopal Rai, AAP MCD In-charge and MLA Durgesh Pathak and MLA Atishi chaired the strategic meeting in the presence of senior party leaders and workers.

At the meeting, the campaign strategy for the MCD elections and ways to put it into action were discussed. All 250 candidates were asked to hold padyatras, door-to-door campaigns and public meetings at the booth level. They were also directed to personally monitor preparations and reach out to the public.

Manish Sisodia told candidates that holding 4-5 Jan Samvads (public meetings) at every booth is a key step during an election campaign.

“We have to deploy as many people on every booth as possible; Larger the number, better the preparation. All the candidates have to thoroughly remember the message whenever they hold a Padyatra or go out for campaigning. You have to conduct a dress rehearsal of padyatra in advance. Every step should be well coordinated. You should hold 4-5 Jan Smavads every day,” he said.

Meanwhile, Gopal Rai said all candidates have to listen to and understand the problems of the public by connecting with them at the grassroots level.

“You have to remember that this is not my election or yours but the election of the people of Delhi. We have to give due respect to their needs and work to fulfil them. All the candidates have to deploy as many people as possible at all the booths in their area. The larger the number, the better the preparation,” Rai said.

The MCD polls will be held on December 4. Results will be announced on December 7.
