  • AAP leaders state that strategy successful in Delhi and Punjab is being adopted in Gujarat
  • As a part of its campaign, the political party claimed to replicate the Delhi development model

By Dev Ankur Waddhawan: The latest entrant in Gujarat politics, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), has been trying out unique ways to reach out to people in the state at the onset of Assembly elections next month.

The political party has roped in workers, from Punjab and Delhi, to reach out to people in cities and villages across different constituencies in Gujarat.

The AAP carried out door-to-door campaigns during the day, while at nights, party leaders were seen with the local candidate holding nukkad sabhas in different villages with large projectors.

We are a poor party with not many resources. That is why we reach out to people through nukkad sabhas using projectors to inform.”, Gurpreet Gogi, Punjab MLA, mentioned in India Today.

As a part of its campaign, the political party claimed to replicate the Delhi development model that has enabled the youth to get good education in the state schools, and people get good medical facilities in mohalla clinics, etc.

The strategy being adopted by AAP in Gujarat is something it has successfully executed in Delhi and Punjab, which, according to the party leaders, differs from strategies adopted by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the Congress, which have well entrenched organisational structures in Gujarat.

AAP candidate, Bhagatbhai Patel claims that, “We have been providing the Kejriwal Employment Guarantee card. The response has been good. Aam Aadmi Party will win this seat.”

When asked, the residents of Mehsana city said to India Today, “We would want to give the Aam Aadmi Party a chance this time.”

According to the AAP leaders, “Its fight in Gujarat is with the BJP, the state in power for 27 years, and not with the Congress.”

A resident from Mehsana reported, “The BJP has been ruling the state for 27 years. Another party should be given a chance this time.”
