Actress assault case: Actor Dileep moves Kerala HC to prohibit media coverage

Dileep alleged that the probe team is trying to create public sentiment against him by conducting a media trial and the probe team and the prosecution is trying to sabotage the trial of the case.

Malayalam actor Dileep has filed a plea in the Kerala High Court seeking an injunction against the media coverage in the Malayalam actress assault case. In the appeal, Dileep said that the media was violating the directive of a secret trial and that it should be stopped.

Dileep alleged that the probe team is trying to create public sentiment against him by conducting a media trial and the probe team and the prosecution are trying to sabotage the trial of the case.

Dileep also demanded that the publication of news be stopped till the completion of the trial court proceedings and stern action be taken against the media for those who violate the court order of a secret trial.

Meanwhile, the Kerala High Court allowed five new witnesses to testify in the case. The court also accepted the request to summon the original records of the phone call details. The High Court also directed the state government to appoint a prosecutor within 10 days to complete the hearing expeditiously.

On Monday, police conducted a raid on the residences of Dileep’s brother-in-law and friend in Ernakulam. The raids were carried out at the house of Suraj Sarath, the accused in the case. The raid was conducted based on film director Balachandra Kumar’s statement that Dileep had conspired to endanger the investigating officers in the actress assault case.

The raid was carried out by a team led by SP Mohanachandran. The probe team said there would be further investigation needed to ascertain whether the ‘VIP’ in this case revealed by Balachandrakumar is Sharath.

Ernakulam district Crime Branch SP Mohanachandran is probing the case that Dileep and other accused conspired to endanger the investigating officers of the Malayalam actress assault case.

Apart from the first accused actor Dileep, a case has been registered against his brother Anoop, sister’s husband Suraj, Anoop’s brother-in-law Appu and Dileep’s friend Baiju Chengamanadu under various sections including criminal conspiracy. It is learned that the conspiracy took place at Dileep’s home in Aluva.
