A whistle-blower, one Dharamvir Singh has sent a complaint to SEBI making serious allegations against A.K. Jana, of abusing his position and misappropriation of funds of IGL by sponsoring events unrelated to IGL’s Commercial and CSR objectives only to protect the interests of his wife, Aradhana Jana.
After there are corruption cases in GAIL has come out public now it is the turn of Indraprastha Gas Ltd. Previous Ranganathan was heading IGL as the CMD . At present A.K.Jana is heading as the CMD, whose was to superannuate in the month of March 2022. Managing Director of IGL accused of misusing CSR Funds to promote interests of wife.
E S Ranganathan has appointed as the Managing Director of Indraprastha Gas Ltd (IGL) in 2016. IGL is the largest CNG distribution company of the country operating in Delhi, Noida, Greater Noida and Ghaziabad. Then he had applied in GAIL and Ranganathan was appointed Director (Marketing) of GAIL in July 2020, during the time, when Sri. Dharmendra Pradhan was the minister of PNG.
This month on January 15th, the Central Bureau of Investigations (CBI) booked E.S. Ranganathan, Director (Marketing) of major gas PSU, Gas Authority of India Limited (GAIL), in connection of an alleged case of bribery. The premier investigating agency carried out raids in many locations belonging or related to Ranganathan in the Delhi NCR area.
GAIL India had confirmed suspension of its Director (Marketing) E S Ranganathan following his arrest by the CBI over allegedly taking bribes to give discounts on petrochemical products to private companies.
The letter sent to SEBI Chief further alleges that to promote the sagging career of his wife, A.K. Jana, Managing Director of IGL has abused his powers and has used IGL funds to sponsor – AAYNA, Telangana Bengali FIlm Festival – 2021 (TBFF), where his wife was facilitated by the organizer of the event.
After much persuations, strangely, the reply to the allegations, instead of being on email, appeared on a Whatsapp message (screenshot saved) from M.D., IGL, A.K. Jana which said “The allegation that A.K. Jana has misused his position as Managing Director of IGL and has misappropriated funds of IGL to favour his wife is completely baseless and unsubstantiated.
