AAP leaders Manish Sisodia and Sanjay Singh were arrested by the ED in the case earlier and they are in judicial custody.

Delhi minister and AAP leader Kailash Gahlot on Saturday appeared before Enforcement Directorate in liquor policy case. The case pertains to alleged corruption and money laundering in formulating and executing the Delhi government’s excise policy for 2021-22, which was later scrapped.

Gahlot (49), an Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MLA from Najafgarh, is the minister for transport, home and law in the Delhi government led by Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, who has been arrested in the case by the federal agency. The sources said Gahlot has been asked to appear for questioning in the case and getting his statement recorded under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA)

His summon comes days after Arvind Kejriwal’s arrest. The AAP national convener was arrested by the ED in the case on March 21 and has been sent to Enforcement Directorate custody till April 1. The ED said Kejriwal was giving evasive replies and not disclosing passwords of his digital devices.

Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal himself made submissions in a court and said, “I am named by four witnesses in the excise policy case. Are 4 statements enough to arrest a sitting CM?” A smokescreen of the Aam Aadmi Party being corrupt has been created in front of the nation, he said and added that he is ready to face ED probe.
