The Aam Aadmi Party leader and Deputy chief minister of Delhi, Manish Sisodia, attacked the Bharatiya Janata Party and Gujarat government over its excise policy.

Delhi Deputy chief minister, Manish Sisodia, on Tuesday, attacked the Bharatiya Janata Party and Gujarat government over the excise policy of the BJP in the state.

The AAP leader, who is on trial over alleged irregularities in liquor licences in Delhi, shared a news article on his Twitter account, with the headline, “Liquor smugglers earning more than 200 crore in Gujarat.”

Sharing the news article, Sisodia wrote, “If the Delhi government made a new excise policy, then the Delhi government got Rs 1300 crore more. This happened when the BJP hatched a lot of conspiracies to stop and thwart this policy. See who is benefiting from the excise policy of BJP in Gujarat”

The newspaper clipping shared by the Delhi Deputy CM alleges, “Liquor smuggling is running like an industry in Gujarat the state that has a liquor prohibition policy.”

The article, shared by Sisodia also read, “After the death of 55 people in Botad-Ahmedabad, the investigation of the poisonous liquor tragedy revealed that there is a systematic system of liquor smuggling in the state.”

“The State Monitoring Cell (SMC) have found that Nagadan Garhvi and Vinod Sindhi (alcohol smugglers) have done a transaction of Rs 44 crores worth of alcohol smuggling in the last 6 months while a third smuggler found recorded a turnover of Rs 200 crores,” the article shared by Delhi Deputy CM alleges.

The tweet comes two days after Manish Sisodia announced the government’s decision to scrap the ambitious new liquor policy. This came amid the recently launched probe by the Delhi Police’s Economic Offences Wing (EOW), due to alleged irregularities in its new liquor policy.

Earlier, the Lieutenant Governor of Delhi, Vinai Kumar Saxena, had recommended a CBI probe into the policy and directed Delhi’s Chief Secretary to submit a report detailing the “role of officers and civil servants in its illegal formulation, amendments and implementation.
