Samajwadi Party (SP) chief Akhilesh Yadav responded sharply to Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath’s recent comments targeting his party’s symbolic red caps. In an exclusive interview with India Today TV, Yadav suggested that those criticizing the red caps might need one themselves.

Yadav’s remarks were in response to Adityanath’s statement that the SP’s red caps are “laal” (red) but their “karnaame kaale hain” (deeds are black), implying that the SP has a history full of wrongdoing.

Defending his party, Yadav, who was in Kannauj to meet supporters, countered by saying, “Red is the color of emotions. Red is the color of Goddess Durga.” He added a playful jab at Adityanath, saying, “They are abusing our cap, yet our behavior is so good. At least we have full hair, so we are wearing a cap. Those who do not have hair should also wear a cap.”

Yadav further argued that the Chief Minister’s comments reflected his inability to accept the BJP’s defeat in Uttar Pradesh. He said, “Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath could not bear the shock of defeat in Uttar Pradesh and that’s why he is making such statements.”

Additionally, Yadav emphasized the importance of a caste census, advocating for a proper count of castes to ensure rights and respect for all communities, and cautioned the BJP against manipulating the matter. “Caste census means caste census,” he stated firmly.
