Abhishek Banerjee claimed in a tweet on January 12 that record-breaking covid-19 tests were done in Diamond Harbour Parliament constituency. He said that in a single day, 53,203 tests were conducted only in Diamond Harbour constituency.
Amit Malviya, on Sunday, took a dig at Trinamool Congress leader Abhishek Banerjee over his claim of conducting over 50 thousand Covid-19 tests in his Diamond Harbour Parliament constituency.
Abhishek Banerjee claimed in a tweet on January 12 that record-breaking covid-19 tests were done in Diamond Harbour Parliament constituency. He said that in a single day, 53,203 tests were conducted only in Diamond Harbour constituency.
Amit Malviya, the head of the IT cell of the BJP, questioned the authenticity of the claim by comparing the covid data of January 12 which was issued by the West Bengal government.
“If both, WB Health Dept run by Mamata Banerjee and data put out by Diamond Harbour MP Abhishek Banerjee for Jan 12 are correct, then Bengal tested 18,589 people across 41 LS constituencies of which 21,004 tested positive! 113% positivity rate,” said Malviya in a tweet.
As per Abhishek Banerjee, 53,203 Covid tests were conducted in a single day (on January 12) in his Diamond Harbour constituency out of which 1,151 people turned out to be positive. But the West Bengal government health bulletin said that 71,792 Covid-19 tests done on that day across the state out of which 22,155 were positive.
It means that only 18,589 Covid-19 tests were done across the remaining 41 constituencies out of which 21,004 people were tested positive for the virus.
So far, Abhishek Banerjee has not replied to the allegations made by Amit Malviya.
