WTC Points Table: Australia’s win over India in the Boxing Day Test by 184 runs has made things tougher for the visitors to make it to the final of the WTC. Here’s the latest World Test Championship points table update after the end of the fourth Test of the five-match series.
Australia defeated India by 184 runs in the fourth Test of the five-match series at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG). This win has made life easy for the Aussies in terms of making it to the final of the World Test Championship (WTC). Meanwhile, India are not out of the race yet but the fate is not in their hands anymore.
With this win, Australia have strengthened their position in the second place as their PCT now reads 61.46 while India also remain in the third position but their PCT has gone down to 52.78. Rohit Sharma and his men will have to win the last Test in Sydney now to stay alive in the race for the WTC Final.
Moreover, Australia’s win has also made sure that Sri Lanka stay alive in the race as well. They would now want the final Test in Sydney to end in a draw and if they then beat Australia by 2-0 in the home Test series, Sri Lanka can dramatically make it to the WTC Final.
For the unversed, South Africa are on top of the WTC points table and have qualified for the final as well after beating Pakistan in the Boxing Day Test in Centurion by two wickets.
