Defence Research & Development Organisation (DRDO) and Indian Navy successfully flight tested Vertical Launch Short Range Surface-to-Air Missile (VL-SRSAM) from the Integrated Test Range (ITR), Chandipur off the coast of Odisha on August 23, 2022. The flight test was carried out from an Indian Naval Ship against a high-speed unmanned aerial target for demonstration of vertical launch capability. Japan flexing its muscles in form of long-range missile to counter China: Report

The Yomiuri newspaper reported on Sunday that Japan is considering the deployment of 1,000 long-range cruise missiles to boost its counterattack capability against China. The missiles would be existing arms that are modified to extend their range from 100 km (62 miles) to 1,000 km, government sources cited.
