The Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh’s three-day coordination meet concluded in Hyderabad on Friday. At the meeting, representatives discussed ‘Bharat-centric’ education, employment generation and eradication of malnutrition, among other things.

These meetings are organised every year in January and September.

Addressing a press conference, RSS general secretary Manmohan Vaidya said that 36 independent organisations had participated in the meet. More than 200 representatives, including 24 women, were expected. Of them, 91 per cent attended, he said.

Manmohan Vaidya said that 10 lakh people had been trained in preparation for the third wave of Covid-19.

He added that sangh shakas had been closed during the first wave of the pandemic but now 55,000 of them were up and running. As compared to October 2019, the RSS’ work has resumed in 93 per cent places, he said.

Manmohan Vaidya said that many youngsters are expressing their interest in joining the RSS via the organisation’s website. Between 2017 and 2021, more than one lakh people expressed their interest in joining the RSS, he said.

Sixty per cent of the RSS shakas are for students and youngsters while the rest are for all others, he said.

Responding to a press question, Manmohan Vaidya said the RSS’ work consists of consolidating our entire society. “Diversity should not be seen as differences,” he said.

He added that Bharat’s tradition has been to focus on spiritual oneness and the National Education Policy has expressed the country’s spiritual diversity.

Manmohan Vaidya also claimed that swayamsevaks were working to eradicate caste discrimination through Samajika Samarasta initiatives.

“Bharat has historically not been a welfare state. Whenever necessary, society has sought assistance from the government. Rabindranath Tagore expressed the same,” he said.

Finally, Manmohan Vaidya said the RSS’ goal is to make Bharat the greatest and noblest nation in the world.
